My advertisement for the assignment. A oldie but a Goldie from a collection of illustrator magazines i purchased long ago. Below this will be my descriptive essay, so sit back and enjoy some reading material.
The Advertisement tells the description of a adobe sponsored
event that is held in Las Vegas as a educational event to help others excel in
the programs by adobe. It is seen as having a theme of star trek to help
emphasize and excite audiences about the new event to something they can all
relate to. The san serif typeface
throughout the ad creates a environment that it has a futuristic and exciting
feel toward the event title of Photoshop world. The majority colors that are
used are black, silver, lavender, white, red, yellow and grey to create a
frightening unknown future feel to the ad.
The flow to the ad to my eyes goes from the top to the left then to the
right and finally to the bottom. It creates a feeling to the header; descending
bar to the left then to the planets that create a flair that adds more emphasis
to the bottom information about how to register then the sponsorship and other
companies that will be attending to the event.
The balance in the piece is equal due to even amounts of
weight in the top and bottom with the empty space in the middle being a
counterweight to even the ad space more evenly. The amount of proportion within each section
is divided into four major categories.
The top has the important header and date information in which it gives
small detail about the particular event including the location and date. Left
side creates a stairway for the eye to travel then hop off to the planets and
then the bottom information. The bottom includes the sponsorship of the event
as well as additional information about registration.
The unity in the piece has a strong sense that the repeated side
on the left draws more information in a clear path from the top to the right
then to the bottom, with the planets having a balance to show the text more
clearly from the black background.
The emphasis this advertisement has a way to direct your eye
from the top to the bottom by using the left and right margins to easily
descend to the bottom. This gives ease
to the eye by making it coherent for everyone to understand in and outside of
the demographic.
The amounts of groups linked with gestalt are within the
number that makes it easy on the eye, creating the flow to make it easier to
receive the information as painless as possible. The amount of proximity makes
the groups much more distinct with information and design. The continuation has
a smooth flow leading from the top to bottom and has a clean design that makes
the information more viable without adding anything else that isn’t necessary.
